Helena Monteiro brings to 100 Resilient Cities extensive experience with local and regional governments, as well as international cooperation between cities and international organizations.
Prior to her work at 100RC, Helena ran the Office of Foreign Affairs for the São Paulo State Government in Brazil, where she was responsible for leading the international relations team of the state, coordinating the strategy with all government departments and their overseas counterparts. Previously at São Paulo State Government, she worked as the International Cooperation Coordinator and for the Metropolitan Development Secretariat.
Helena has also experience working at the municipal government, advising the Mayoral team and other secretaries within the city hall regarding international relations, and has developed extensive private sector experience from the Brazil Campus Party, commercializing the event to sponsors and coordinating with key stakeholders. Helena was born in Brazil and holds a bachelor degree in International Relations from the University of Sao Paulo and a MSc in City Design and Social Science from The London School of Economics and Political Science.
She is fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish and French and among her specialties are public and government affairs; International cooperation, strategic communications, governmental and institutional relations, strategic planning, nonprofits.
