President Obama signed an Executive Order today, titled “Preparing the United States for the Impacts of Climate Change,” directing Federal agencies to take the following steps towards climate resiliency:
- Modernize Federal programs to support climate-resilient investments by identifying, then removing barriers to resilience-focused actions/investments in current policies and programs.
- Manage lands and waters for climate preparedness and resilience in order to properly strengthen our natural resources and ecosystems.
- Provide information, data, and tools for climate change preparedness and resilience by developing climate preparedness tools & information that leaders need to make decisions; then making them accessible to the public.
- Plan for climate change related risk by developing strategies to evaluate and address significant risks.
